|Just stop Sasha.|
Sasha Grey insists she had nothing to do with a "pathetic" porn company's attempt to donate proceeds from its new film "Anal Artists" to Read Across America -- telling TMZ, the company's trying "to capitalize on Read Across America, controversy, and my name."
Assence Films announced it was donating proceeds from the film to Reading Across America in support of Sasha's "recent efforts to expose children to the world of literature" -- but Sasha says she's never even heard of the company.
Sasha tells us, Assence is exploiting her by trying to "re-package and re-sell an outdated, previously-available scene by touting it as one of my last scenes."
But Sasha doesn't know what's worse ... "the fact that people are now misled to believe I’m personally selling this movie with salacious marketing, or the fact that the [National Education Association] won’t take donations from this pathetic company."
Sasha adds, "There’s little money for education in this beautiful country, and as a pro-education advocate, it’s heartbreaking to hear this."
TMZ broke the story ... Grey -- who once won a Best Oral Sex award for her role in "Throat: A Cautionary Tale" -- participated in Read Across America at Emerson Elementary School in Compton, CA back in November.
Sadly, Sasha says the program has since been shut down at the school "because of one lone disgruntled fan who harassed my parents, the school district, the media and me, for my involvement in such an important program."
***Update: Mike Kulich of Assence Films responds! via AdultFYI.com***
Mike Kulich writes: Dear gene: Howard levine is our distributor, he has nothing to do with any of our promotions.
If Miss Grey named him in her tirade, she should apologize to him.
In response to Sasha Grey's accusations of us exploiting her and Read Across America, I would like to issue the following statement.
Miss Greys response to TMZ is nothing short of alarming.
It seems to be okay for her to further her mainstream career by reading to kids, but if we try to help we are referred to as pathetic.
Seems hypocritical to me.
Just because Miss Grey hasn't heard of Assence Films doesn't mean we don't exist. It is not a pathetic attempt to donate money, it is a real attempt to donate money for Reading Across America and help a struggling education system, that just in Los Angeles County, has an appaling consistent 34.9% dropout rate.
At no point did my company ever state that Miss Grey was involved or endorsed what we were doing with this campaign.
What is the difference between her helping the NEA and us helping?
In fact, we did not make a big deal about what we were doing. Our charitable efforts only became public once the Huffington Post picked up on it, and here we are being slandered.
We have already received a call from LAUSD saying they would love the donation and they could use all the help anyone is willing to offer.
No one said the scene featuring Miss Grey was newly shoot footage. We clearly state that it was one of her last anal scenes that she shot before her retirement.
We didn't realize we had to clear it with Miss Grey and in fact, we were in no way legally obligated to clear it with Miss Grey.
The bottom line was to help the program and our failing schools.
If Grey was so concerned about education she would have applauded our efforts.
If she has any issues pertaining to us trying to offer a helping hand to one of the most important aspects of our community, I would say to her she needs to take a long look in the mirror and get over herself.
